Residential Projects

Charles Starck approaches residential design with the same discipline and precision that defines his commercial work—yet with a more personal focus on how people live within the spaces they inhabit. He selectively takes on clients who value design excellence, thoughtful detail, and enduring craftsmanship, creating homes that are both timeless and deeply individual.

C. F. Starck & Associates designed this modern farmhouse for a private client seeking a home that balances contemporary living with timeless rural character. The residence combines clean, modern lines with traditional forms and materials, creating a cohesive design that feels both new and rooted in place. Expansive windows, natural finishes, and precise detailing define the home’s understated elegance, reflecting Charles’s commitment to proportion, craftsmanship, and livable design.

Charles designed this custom home in Arizona as a modern interpretation of Southwestern architecture. Conceived for a client who envisioned a grand residence for entertaining, the design features an expansive interior, a 2,000-square-foot guesthouse, and a resort-style pool integrated seamlessly into the desert landscape. Natural materials, clean lines, and carefully framed views create a balance of warmth and sophistication, reflecting Charles ability to merge regional character with contemporary form.

Townhomes – Portland, OR

Charles led the design of a collection of freestanding townhomes in Portland, Oregon. Situated on a narrow, sloped infill site, the project required inventive planning and precise coordination to create spacious, light-filled homes within a compact footprint. Each residence was designed with subtle variation in massing and façade treatment to distinguish the units while maintaining a cohesive overall composition.

Past Project Renderings

These past residential design studies reflect C. F. Starck & Associates’  belief that each home should respond to its environment. From coastal retreats to mountain residences, every concept explores a unique relationship between form, material, and setting, demonstrating the diversity and adaptability that define their architectural approach.

“I’ve always said good design doesn’t have to be expensive — it just has to be thoughtful.”
